Podocarpus Pringle for pre-bonsa

Should I repot to see if I have 1 trunk or 2 ,or let plant grow thru growing season. I feel if I don’t repot and prune ( maybe also wire) I will miss a whole growing season in development of tree . Any good answers.

I think you can check it without a repot.
Just rake out some of the soil at the trunk.

still trying to figure out how to style prodocrpus macrophilus Pringle into a prebonsai. Not sure if trunks attach or are all seperate.Maybe good idea to let go until spring
