Hello everybody,
I wanted to get some feedback from the experts on a project I started. My mom has a beautiful pine in her backyard, and since I began taking care of most gardening work for her, I tried to apply some bonsai skills to her trees.
The pine has a beautiful all natural cascading trunkline. It completely grew out of proportions since around 5-10 years. It grew way too tall, so I just cut off 4 apexes so as to keep a nice niwaki height, that is easily accessible. That was 2 years ago.
End of this winter I took off 80% of buds that started devloping, in hopes of gaining dense ramification that the tree is in desperate need of. My question is if I am doing it right, and what other work or shape I should consider, or how you would approach the project in general.
Other work I did was to remove other plants in close proximity and trim down various trees that were blocking sunlight exposure. Gave it some fertilizer also.
Thank you. You guys are awsome!
