"Pinch me"... neagari black pine

For my own progression... I am attaching an Instagram link so I can find this easier. as of now...I don't know how to search my page without scrolling through it all.

A direct link should allow ones who wish to see it in a small snippet...outside of 2D images. Without an account.

What an improvement from the beginning.☺️ With it's dark compact needles it almost looks like a Bristlecone. I could see a cascade in this.

Pulled this one in the other day...for my Instagram page.

Please let me say first, take this criticism for what it's worth. I am certainly no master when it comes to bonsai however I do know what I like and what I don't. I think you have done an incredible job getting this pine back in healthy condition and an impressive job with the compacting of the leggy branches. However, I think your current angle of planting suffers from an unbalanced look and feeling. I feel when I look at the photo you posted yesterday that the tree is falling to the left. I think it looked much more stable when it was vertically straight up and down. I think the cascade branch is a good addition but that the trunk needs to remain vertical. Again just my opinion, I think you do great work on everything I have seen from you.

Fair enough. Everyone is allowed their personal taste. I've had guidance from Adair Martin (pine guy)... he's not had those concerns. He actually suggested it. As they typically are grown as slants. But again...Everyone has their own taste on style. I don't mind you sharing yours. He actually directed me for the pot it's currently in. He shuddered at the ones I was looking at for the tree

Thanks...yes, it came needing rehabilitated. It's recovered on that aspect.

I really like the angle and believe when it was straight it had very little character. Nice job on how it’s developing over time.
Thank ya kindly ...

Adair specifically told me to do so. Most are grown as slants. He said once the soil was removed...and I went to repot. To get it into that direction . I trust him. I also agree with you. I hadn't considered it initially. But I love a slant. So it wasn't like he had to twist my arm to move in that direction.

Amazing what an angle change can do 👍
