This is my other piñon pine that had its first styling this fall. Collected in summer 21 it was time. I kept thinking it was a mistaken collection due to its lack of great presence and natural features. I ultimately decided a more slanting style would suit this tree best. Still deciding on the pot type it’ll go in. May go with a slab.
I was so un inspired by this tree over the years that I have no early pics.

Nice one Danny! Looks great! Maybe a crescent pot of some sort would be a good fit?

Thanks broski. Yeah I agree, I’m thinking something more unorthodox will be best. Though I may just source a cheap Chinese ceramic for its first year in a pot. Just to get it transitioned correctly.

hello ! Nice tree and nice styling 👍

Do you prefer a front side than another one ? And why ?

on the pics, i'm more seduced by the trunk on the back side, so i made 2 virtuals without the 1rst big branch, and with the trunk more or less raised up ->

Thank you Clem!
I think I prefer the prominence of the ten-Jin in front you edited. Problem is the apex leans away slightly in person. Fixable I’m sure, just won’t happen till spring.

I’m not ready to cut that big defining branch just yet that’s for sure but I do like the virtual you created, so thank you for that!

I was thinking a more non traditional pot like a crescent, or some type of angled slab. But like I was saying above I figured I’d get a cheap Chinese pot for its first transition and I def picture a round with some flare or detail similar to the one you posted.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Here’s what I was think in regards to a pot. Something with some curvature and details. And at only $65 I figured it’d be a good home till I can source a formulate a long term plan.

Something about those cloud feet thought In particular that I really like.

My 2 cents in an angle change. I feel if I go more upright that the design is too ambiguous in what it wants to be. Keeping it extending out away from center lends to the tension and precarious nature of the design.

I like the hard lean design as well. My only suggestion would be to try to get some of the low foliage swung back in closer to the trunk like I did in my drawing to give it a little more visual strength.

Thank you Clem!

hello,
On the side of the virtuals, with the tree leaning on the right, i have the feeling that the trunk base is larger, stronger so it makes the tree more stable (very important on a tree leaning and beaten by the winds : I've seen Ryan Neil change the direction of the apex to give more stability to a tree with a weak base). And i also have the impression that the trunk is bigger too.. (?)
I understand that you want to keep that main branch and inclination : your tree is "wilder" and more dynamic than the virtuals below. It is possible to see in the wild some old pines with very long branches so why not in Bonsai ? ->

Another example : a drawing of ABE Kurakichi ->

A crescent pot would be nice too.. I made another virtual with a shell pot with small feets to see how it looks like with the original inclination and the long branch ->

For me, just my2cents, you tree would be better with the trunk raised up a little.. just my felling.

I don't know angled slab very much (not familiar with it) so i would be interested to see what your tree looks like in it.

Yes, and the most important is that your pine survive after repotting with its new inclination ^^

I understand what you say, i have the feeling that the trunk line is better with the tree a little raised up, but i agree that your styling is wilder and more dynamic (precarious situation of a tree suspended above the ground, in a rock fissure)

Tree in clouds, pot with cloud feet seems poetically correct😌.
