Pacific Bonsai Museum

In Seattle for a few days with my wife and oldest son. She’s letting me peel away for a few to see the museum. I told her it wasn’t absolutely necessary, but she was adamant I check it out. Ok honey, if you wish.

Headed there tomorrow at 10am. Pretty excited to check it out.

This was as spectacular a bonsai setting as I’ve experienced. Everything from the walk to the museum from the parking lot, to the entry and exit. Very humble yet well executed environment. Each tree was allowed to be viewed individually with plenty of space for viewing and photographs. The grounds were pristine. Clean and organized with a clear walking path doesn’t necessarily need following In a single direction. I’ve been looking at these trees for years through photos and videos and the biggest impression on me was the shear scale detail of everything. So much more than I could have ever hoped for. Seeing them from so man angles as was possible, was also spectacular.

This one simply blew me away at first sight, wow.
reminds me of one of Bernini's angel statues, the swirling marble cloth effect, except with a glorious green helmet(a bonus!). unbelievable.

It so great to see folks post photos at PBM and show their appreciation.

Marie and I have both have been lucky to volunteer at PBM every week and work with all trees in the collection alongside our small yet dedicated cadre of other volunteers, the PBM staff and best of all, Aarin Packard our Curator and Mentor.

Aarin has worked very hard to push the limits of bonsai as an art, horticultural science and cutting edge display techniques to bring the very best to the bonsai community. PBM’s latest display, Avant Garden, demonstrate how Aarin is able to bring a group of talented, yet off beat, bonsai artist’s work together to the edge of the art, while maintaining the stylistic techniques that make bonsai so appealing.

Thank you Brian. Yes @Baku1875 an incredible tree for sure. The live vein is just that tiny bit that you can see on the right of the trunk. It’s fully grafted also, Kishu I believe though it probably says the type in the write up Brian posted.
