In case you missed it. I took some pretty comprehensive coverage of the Pacific Bonsai Expo 2024. Loved this venue so much more. Better lighting and bigger sales area. I was only there on Saturday but felt like I needed more time to see everything. There was a lot happening. I didn't even get a chance to sit down and watch the demos. Before you know it the day was almost over. I couldn't attend Sunday because I had a yamadori trip planned on Sunday. Now that was fun.

Part1: Exhibit trees

Part 2: Sales

My favorite tree was the Coast Redwood by Jeremiah Lee

I would be curious to see how his tree ranked on the best in show scale for all those who judged. I have to imagine that it had to be right there. If that legacy and truly stunning cryptomeria wasn’t in the show, his redwood very well could’ve pulled it out.

Also, @NaoTK the pot you made for this tree works with its design so much better than I realized. The Birdseye view and silhouette seems to complement the shape just about perfect. Not sure whose idea it was, but it came out so good.

3rd place for best in show (tree 53). 33 was Stern's Korean hornbeam

I believe Jeremiah styled the canopy to integrate with the pot, its a dialogue back and forth.
it has faux-zan drainage holes

Action shots. Bad ass bro.

@yenling83 3rd place in best in show category out of all those heavy hitters is pretty fucking cool bro. You should be proud of that.

Thank you all so much, it's an gigantic honor:)

@NaoTK and @Sansokuu are national treasures! I'm super proud that they are American Bonsai potters. We are truly lucky to have them! I have no idea how they brought so many high level containers to the PBE all with a baby attached to one of them the entire time.

@NaoTK I love the California Clay you collect, super interested to learn more about that process. I think it's absolutely beautiful, it's my favorite of the unglazed.

You rock @BenBSeattle thanks for everything man!

I picked up a coast redwood from Peter on Monday after the show because your tree gave me inspiration.,
