Starting a specific thread to document this tree. I've posted it in other combination posts- please ignore. This tree has survived two years post collection, so I feel comfortable with logging ongoing styling. This thread will serve as an ongoing journal, as well as for input.

I know this plant is a tree killer, but for some reason I like the trunks.

I nabe anumber if vines in my neighborhood and was thinking about collecting one. How extensive were the roots?Given how fast they grow I assume they are a pretty vigorous vine, any specific tips though?

This thing took a beating this past winter. It'll survive unless I compost it this spring. I'm waiting to see how it responds.

Ahh how did I not see this? I'm so sorry- the roots were very long, I just hacked them close to the trunk and hoped for the best. The hardest part is keeping it separate from my other trees- within a week of not paying attention, it will completely encircle another trunk, just as they do in nature.

Well I thought it was dead, so I put it aside. One trunk was dead, the other is alive. Pruned back slightly but not sure what to do with this. Might just end up getting the compost pile treatment

cool, thanks for the follow up. I’ve got what I think it an American bittersweet. Not a ton of info on here about them so I thought I’d ask how yours was doing.

One entire side died last year, but the other half is still kicking. To be honest, I've mostly neglected this plant this year so far.
