Would be great if there were an option to mark one's own tree threads in the species specific subforums as "Dead" or "Sold" without having to bother the moderator.

It would just automatically add a suffix to the thread title denoting a tree as dead or sold or whatever.

Or discontinued, maybe?
It might hurt less to not tell people I've killed over 500 japanese black pines. BUT HERE I AM!
A *Sniff sniff* Goner button may come in handy.
It would be nice to add a tree status attribute that is changeable by the OP. That way we can mark a tree as On going, Goner, Sold etc.

Bumping this again. Any new thoughts? Do people ever specifically seek out dead tree threads to see what people did wrong? lol

I need an idiot icon for cause of death or a selection choice for cause of death.

1. Idiocy
2. Mother Nature
3. Vandalism and Theft
4. Animals ( Mostly squirrels and dogs)
5. Bugs
6. Fungus
7. Vacation watering mishap

If such a feature is implemented, it should give the OP the option to also lock their progression thread, preventing the addition of new posts, when they mark it as dead.

I made the mistake of posting an update in one my progression threads to let anyone following know that the tree had died. Despite specifically stating that I really wasn’t looking for a postmortem discussion, that’s what took place in the thread. It’s one thing if you have a tree die and you don’t have any insight into why and actually want community feedback. It’s quite another thing to have a pretty good idea of what killed the tree and to get unsolicited advice after specifically stating you don’t want it (including advice that assumes you made amateur mistakes that you didn’t actually make). Back seat driving when the car has already crashed can be quite obnoxious.
