Sapling
I purchased this nursery stock azalea in April of 2019.
A nice small leaf variety, but I saw a nice thick trunk at the base.
Here it is after a first pruning.
Root spread was very nice.
Here it is today (May 31st) in flower. I didn't get many flowers, but I'm not surprised since I pruned it back so hard last year.
Alternate views of side, back, side, and top.
I still have a lot of decisions to make. I might remove more of the trunks and change my front, but it's very healthy and I plan to keep letting it grow until next year when I'll do some more drastic work on it in 2021 after flowering.
Any thoughts or ideas on styling or what direction I could take this tree would be appreciated!
