I found this for $15 at a local nursery. It is a Juniper but I am unsure what type. It feels more prickly than a Nana. it has a nice base and a nice first bend. I am not sure where to go with it right now. cascade but I feel like that may be taking the easy way out. Part of me wants to wrap all the branches up and get some large copper wire and bend away. The branches that survive will give me the direction. I am open to opinions. I was thinking I am going to clean it up a little and maybe take some of the soil off the top to see what lies beneath the soil line.

what a fun looking project!
Can you go back and get me one or two?

@Cjlopez4 that  is a typical "framed for murder" fingerprint shot...

It looks kinda like my Gold Coast juniper.

Seems to have that slight yellow tint that is more pronounced in spring growth.

If it is, it seems rather stressed...any sign of recent pruning?

I ask because mine is much younger, and I cut it pretty hard to make it revert back to juvenile and it didn't...if yours has that much juvenile foliage, I would think taking a lot more off it may be dangerous.

Nice.

It was in the shade. Wasn't pruned recently. It looks rootbound to me?? Would that cause the off color?

japanese cedar, cryptomeria japonica?
