I purchased this pine that was advertised as a Mugo pine online. But when it arrived I noticed it is a five needle pine. It doesn’t have any white stripes on the needles.

I’m hoping you all can help me identify what species of pine it is. I also noticed that it seems to be very vigorous right now with our temperatures in the high 90° range and getting watered twice a day.

Here are 9 different 5 needle pines in the NW.
Have you contacted the seller with an inquiry?

I did not contact the seller. I figured if they thought a five needle pine was a Mugo that they wouldn’t know what kind it is.

How long newest long needles🤔?
The needles at the apex are 3” long. I took more pictures this morning. Also noticed the wire was biting in pretty hard.

The wire scars were my fault. I didn’t watch it closely enough. 😬 it will be incorporated into the design now. 🙂

I’ve had this one all season, just became really curious about getting an identification when I saw how strong it was growing during the heat wave we had in Missouri this week.

Believe needles too long, too green for Limber. Also personal Limber barely showing next year buds/not well developed yet as is this one. Twisting needles also character for whichever kind this is🤔?

Wire scars insignificant! Trunk has much growing to do. They disappear so don't get too attached;).

Western White Pine maybe. Idaho State tree. 5 needle and they are long.

Good thought if the the seller was local.

Dunno if it’s a WWP as the needles appear too thick. WWP are pretty slender.

cheers
