This brings me to a question. Just how much sun does my juniper need? I've read all I can find in the time I have to read and I the most I can concretely say is that 'full sun' is technically 6 direct unobstructed hours. But of course a vegetable labeled full sun will need far more than that. Obviously, 14 hours in the sin city sun is too much.
Ideally I need a shade cloth right over my tree in the position I normally keep it so it gets direct morning and evening sun with shade through midday/afternoon. But I cant. No way around it. I also tried placing the trees throughout the landscaping which worked well but made it very hard to water. I am partially disabled so that plays a role in wanting easier access.
So here are my options;
1. East side of house with direct sun from 0630 to 1230 (and about 45 min before sunset) with full shade the rest of the day.
or
2. West side of small shed that gets full sun from 1145 to 1930 and shade in the morning.
I would prefer #1 but I'm not sure it will be enough light. Anecdotally, my junipers do seem more green after 2 days in position 1. They were all looking pale green/yellow.
Thanks.
