I have a mood to submit some of my trees today! :D
Those are large unfinished specimens! Still have a lot of works to be done!
The last one is crape myrtle. Others are pomegranate.

Just curious, why do you have the apex wired like you do on the pomegranate in picture 3?

They're all potentially some very nice trees.

BUT . . . in my opinion, none of them is ready for a bonsai pot yet. They all should be in somewhat larger training pots while you work to develop/improve the tops. As you develop tops, the roots develop, too -- making the trees eventually much stronger.

BTW, those all look like nice pots, too.

Thanks for all responses.

Like Mat, my fav is the pomegranate in pic #3 also. :)
I like it, too! However, the other one has very nice trunk base for having lot of natural cavities! I will post this tree in the future.

Awesome trees. I love the pomegranates. Where did you get them?
Me too! :) I got those from one of my old friends who didn't like fruit- bearing pomegranates any more!

When I got this tree 2 years ago, it only had 3 branched in the lower part. The apex had no branch at all. According to my friend, it used to have very nice apex, then its apex died of! I have been brought those branches on the apex to the right so that they could fill the large empty space! This year, I will start to direct the growth to the left a little. My goal is filling up the apex a little more.

I wish I could have a bigger yard so that I could do much better for those trees! For now, I have been enjoying whatever I have! So far, they have been doing fine. I got the pom. on the 3rd picture for 2 years, and its branch structure is developing well as I expect.

+1.

Please understand that not everyone have big yard...thrust us, we would love to be able to put our plants in ground to hasten development if possible. As it is, I am glad for my small space...better than nothing. :)

Before my move (1.5 years ago)...I have all my house plants in a small balcony. :)

Cork elm.

Bonhe the pom in pic# 3 is a beauty and the pot choice is great and well timed, the cork elm is too. Believe me there are many here who dearly wish they could have trees like these whether they would be in a pot or in the ground, none could deny you have done well with these trees.

Few months ago, I pulled the crape myrtle out (the one is in the 4th picture) to perform carving on its trunk. It almost took me a month to finish the job!!! The reason it took me so long is that I had to find free time and it also was depended on my mood on that day!

I made 4 tunnels which are connecting to the back and the side of the trunk. As you can see, those tunnels can not be seen through and through from its front view.

In the end of the winter, I will start to train its branches. Will need lot of bending.

I could not come to the Winter Silhouettes bonsai show in LA this weekend! Because of that, I just came out the garden and enjoyed mine instead! :).

As you can see, most of my bonsai are laying on the side walk. This summer, I plan to build up the display benches for them. Because this is a big project for me, so I have to wait for my brother-in-law come over from Boston to help me out! :)
