Hi All,
We're preparing for retirement within the next year or so. If the company leaves me alone as they have been, I stay for a little longer. IF they start to break my balls (as we say), then I'll "pack-it-in" sooner. LOL...
Anyway... That being said, over the past few weekends, I picked-up some really nice future Bonsai pieces.
The first one is a Japanese Maple (about 1 1/2" or so at the very base, with nice movement), that I purchased from a small nursery out here on Eastern Long Island, for only $20! Yup, $20.
Not certain of the exact variety though. Advice welcomed.
The next bunch of trees came from a different nursery.
These I actually dug-out ("Nursery-Adori") and purchased from our local Bonsai place.
UNFORTUNATELY they are closing their doors, but HOPEFULLY starting-up again eventually.
I also received a fantastic deal on this lot of trees as well, along with about 10 more pots and humidity trays.
Being that I have slight OCD tendencies, I couldn't decide which tree or trees to dig & buy, so I dug-out and purchased ALL OF 'EM! 10 in all, and only one was already dug-out and potted.
I had a heck of a time digging several of them out, ESPECIALLY that large Trident, the one with my hand in the picture. It's about 3 1/2" at the base of the trunk.
But nonetheless, I had a BLAST! I haven't gotten THAT muddy in a while! LOL...
Time is of the essence here, as I don't know how much longer the doors will be open. Currently, they're only open for a few hours on the weekends. I already purchased a ton of assorted pots from them as well.
The rest of the trees are I believe Carpinus Turczaninovii (Korean Hornbeam), as one of them was tagged, but not the rest.
Advise appreciated.
I know the photos and their locations aren't the greatest though, as I'm still under construction of my greenhouse (approx. 80% completed), replacing that fence, AND still working a bunch of hours. I can and will post more pics, as I move forward.
As always, I SINCERELY appreciate everyone here and your guidance!!!
