And first big box store purchase. Didnt see any cheap pines...but crossed this yucca off my list. Was surprised to find it. Barky 24"x3" overall and lots of new growth coming through. This will be fun for branching hardening off joshua tree style. And $13

There you go. Fortunately for me, I am generally into horticulture and houseplants as much as I value "bonsai" and know these plants backbud as easy as succulents and harden off if you do it right. Either way, itll have a nice views in South window this winter.

Nigel has reach!
I really wish he would work on more bonsai, in the bonsai zone....
Yucca is a species that doesn't really have the proper characteristics for bonsai.
I'm sure you will still have fun with it.
Good luck!

Agreed! I was a LONG time follower.. i just don’t watch that much Youtube anymore..

I think his collection features half if not more Tropicals/subs/arids.. because of the shorter “working season” caused by his climate...

The further North you go.. the more people have indoor operations.. and thusly more of these kind of plants. (This is just MY theory)

@hinmo24t , I think it’ll be great.... I just love PLANTS... and that’s a neat one to try and shape/miniaturize....

Don’t let your stride be broken.

🤓

didnt know there was a houseplant section on the forum, i could of posted my Yucca plant from a few years ago🤭😂

Lets see it

when i got bored of houseplants i chucked em all out and began doing bonsai years ago. killed my yuccas with too much water, theyre a desert plant and dont require much water.
not suitable for bonsai training, but if it floats your boat🛶🙈

still in the wrong forum though. you need a houseplant forum.

Joshua Tree. Asparagus Family
"Rarely more than seven feet in height with multiple trunks that only occasionally branch, Yucca schidigera can be readily distinguished from a Joshua tree by its much longer leaves. In areas where the two species occur together, it is easy to see that Mojave yucca leaves can be up to four times longer" Desertsun.com
