My itoygowa shimpaku juniper gets a Mach 5 styling

Hi Russ. Tree coming along. Question. At one point it looks like you had the top growing well and fuller. Pic above it appears it was pruned back quite a bit? Any reason why?

Also make sure your wire is applied at at least 45 degrees evenly throughout. Otherwise it diminishes its functionality.

Tree looks stressed and weak to me? Not sure this work makes sense at this time. Original top already died? Foliage appears to be mostly, if not all juvenile. I'd get rid of that moss on the soil, make sure it drains well and feed heavy with no fall work whatsoever.

I second this. Let that tree grow back into a bush before you mess with it anymore. Junipers depend on their foliage for energy, and right now it only has very reduced foliage to build energy with. Fertilize it well, and let it do its thing for a year. This is why I like having lots of trees, I don't get impatient and overwork one when i have tons of others to tend to. 😆

The top branch got pulled down in front. Some of the back branches got trimmed away. All the wiring is getting redone...

I'll let it go for another year and see where it leads. I'm not in a hurry to make this one happen until it's ready...
