My grandfather's P. afra

So I'm not really sure where to put this. I'm not really actively trying to sell these, but my grandfather recently passed away and he had a large collection of elephant bush trees. He's the reason I got into bonsai and if I could take all these trees home to Washington from Cali I would.

My grandmother was thinking of getting rid of some of his smaller ones by just putting them out for free because she doesn't think they're worth much. Perhaps it's my bias because they where my grandfathers but I feel like they would have value to someone who enjoys elephant bush bonsai.

So, I guess what this extremely wordy post is for is to ask your opinions as to what the value of these guys might be (also, sorry for the not so stellar photos).

There are lots more but I didn't have time to drag them all out. Now obviously I'm not expecting them to be anything like a hundred dollars but I feel like they have at least some value.

And a couple bonus shots of one I know my grandma is keeping. I know it's not a beautifully styled or maintained tree (he didn't have the ability to do much in his garden the last few years of his life) but I've always loved this one.

In Florida I have seen ones similar to the first pictures sold in retail stores for $15-30. The last couple pictures maybe $50-75 or so. They grow very quickly here, I would think they’d be more valuable up north.

That's kind of the price range I was thinking, my grandma thought I was crazy when I said I thought she could get somewhere close to $20 a piece for them.

Yes, you can auction them off here, but for simplicity's sake, start a new thread for each tree so people can see what they are buying. All details must be worked out between buyer and seller - i.e. I can't be a middle man.

Sorry about your grandfather, I can see why these trees mean a lot to you. And you are not being biased. These trees have good trunks and can become very nice bonsai with just a few seasons work. I would definitely buy them at the prices SWflorida suggests.

Make sure Granny knows that the best disposition of Gramp's tree are to people who will pay for the privileged of taking them as their own and insuring that they continue to live. And any tree with a history that people can recite makes it a little more special, -more special than a store-bought tree with no special story.
