Here is a boxwood that was heading to the trash and I got yesterday (i like its bark)

I bare rooted it and repotted it today, here are some pics of how it was when I got it.

I was amazed of so many feeding roots I was expecting big roots due to the soil it was in

and here it is after repotting.

If anyone has any advice other than fedding it and keeping it healthy for this year, I'd gladly take

Nope. You gave yourself the best advice there is.

The branches without any foliage at all on them might not make it. I have found if you cut back hard and don't leave any foliage on a boxwood branch then they can die back killing that branch ( my experience 100%). Good look.

that's a good thing to know, although i wish I'd learn it a tad earlier

thanks

I was going to tell you the same but looks like you did good considering the original don't have much lower foliage to begin with. That said, I have a few that budded on branches that I chopped hard and was leafless though I have to admit mine looked much more vigorous than yours. Good luck!
