Hi all,

I wanted to share my current setup with a couple of pointed concerns now in addition to everything else I’ve started, the trident maple while at one point earlier this season had the beginnings of some lush green that started to appear but now has turned brown and the hornbeam also is browning. I’m hoping to hear any feedback and I know pictures may not be of best service but you guys have certainly helped me along the way which I remain indebted in my bonsai journey.

I can’t just have one, but my goal is to at least have one in years time refined and shaped to what I’ve seen you guys show off. But I enjoy the process immensely as it’s provided me a great sense of meditative ease.

Happy Sunday.

There are a number of things that can cause maple leaves to brown.
Dehydration is common in Spring as days get longer and warmer and trees are using much more water to fuel Spring growth. If it is possible the tree got dry you should increase watering to match the needs of the tree and the pot it's in. In most cases, new shoots will appear in a few weeks.
Fungal/bacterial infection is also common in maples late Winter and early Spring. Look for black bark close to ground level. Usually the result of soil and roots too wet through cool months. When it gets to that stage it's usually too late to save so I hope it is just dehydration.
Root rot from excessively wet soil over a long period also results in similar symptoms.

Can't offer much more from your info and the photos.

How much are you watering those plants given that they seem to be on your carpeted porch?
Are you able to thoroughly water each of those plants on the porch until water pours out the bottom of the pots? You may not be watering them enough in order to avoid excessively wetting your porch and the rug underneath that table.

Hey Sean, I am watering until I see water flowing out of the bottom of the pot.
