Two branches on my tree recently pushed out leaves with a different color. It's never done this before. Is it just because they decided to grow in late summer?
I'm curious if I take cuttings, will it keep this color?

New growth lighter in beginning. Time in Sun/maturity will darken color☺️.

Looks like normal young growth to me (like the new growth in spring).

How long do you have this tree?
Didn't you see these leaves in spring when the tree leaved out for the first time?

Different color new shoots is common in JM but if you have not noticed it before maybe there is something else going on.
Summer shoots having different color is possible. Keep checking to see if the laves darken to normal.
Nutrient deficiency is another possibility.
None of the above will be retained in cuttings.
Much rarer is genetic 'sport' where a bud mutates to produce a different plant. Everything past that point is essentially a different tree with new characteristics. I doubt that's what is happening but if these shoots stay different you can probably take cuttings to keep those different characteristics.

It's an air layer I cut off a 15 foot tree 3 years ago. The mother tree has some new growth but it's not that much lighter. Maybe I need to add some iron. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the feedback 20230816_184855.jpg20230816_184929.jpg
