Mugo Pine cascade

This Mugo pine yamadori is still in developement. The tree was collected 2006. After the first styling the cascading first branch got so weak that I was forced to replace it. Now the crown regained the original form.
The pot is by the austrian potter Horst Heinzlreiter.

When you say "you were forced to replace it" ... you mean graft I guess? What kind of graft was it?

The branch was not grafted but replaced by a branch from the apex. As mugo pines are growing quite slowly this process took a few years.
The first photo is from 2013 with the original cascading branch, the second from 2021 shows the intermediate stadium.

Breath taking foliage, wood & particulary the aging, the new pot is a stunner in this setting .... Ahhh what a joy.

I actually think it turned out better... agree it does take a while for pines if you want to do it right without long internodes and good ramification...
