Hey all just wanted to share some of my 3d printed pots and pre bonsai..also my serissa is flowering so had to add that lol ( I love when they flower )

The pre bonsais are

chinese elm
portulacaria

so the material i print with is PETG it is weather resistant and non toxic. i use water base paints and seal it with a matte finish sealer on the outside.
and if i want to make the pot shine i use a gloss water base sealer on the outside of the pot.

And yeah that cascade Chinese elm is one of my faves. that elm was made to be a cascade i didnt even wire it , its just how the cutting came when i got it.

WAY to tiny for me to even attempt to do that but maybe ill have to print a bigger version now lol

I second the comments about the square cascade with horizontal lines, I think it looks great!
I'm guessing with 3D printing you can make absolutely any shape in tiny detail, you could start getting really creative with shapes and inlays.

Considering the design potential, and also the material, it seems there is an opportunity here for high end training pots. The cascade pot is pretty awesome.

Yes absolutely. That's why I put my pre bonsai sai stuff in them I'm trying to grow the root base slowly and keep them radial. I will up the pot size in the fall if some of them need it. Possibilities are endless with 2d printing and alot of free designs to choose from on the internet

Love them have you ever used terracotta filament? I've recently printed a pot with marble filament and it looks pretty cool.

Im running a basic Ender 3 v2 NEO. Got it for 250 on sale ready to print.

ON or thru Shapeways someone was offering Fu Ran orchid pots that were really cool, similar idea.
Fu Ran = Neofinettia falcatta or now called Vanda falcata.

These are some of the best looking 3d printed pots I've seen, props to you. Any idea how long these last for with regular wear, tear, and use?

When I worked at a bonsai nursery there was a guy who was experimenting to see how long they'd last for him, but I ended up leaving before I got to hear about the results. Because if they're durable enough, I could see these giving the Korean mica pots a run for their money as a cheaper option for having stuff in a better looking pot until they're ready for something ceramic.

For plastics it's all about UV damage.
I'd be keen to muck around making molds for clay or concrete pots and also printing out the Star Wars ships I'm missing from the HWs line lol.
A computer and 3d printer would be cool but since smart phones I haven't really bothered updating the computer.

PETG is highly UV resistant. I'd be more worried about the moist environment it will be exposed to being a pot. Can possibly affect integrity but we are talking about 10+ years.

These pots look great! I've 3d printed a few pots myself and was wondering if you could share the process you used to paint them (or point me to a relevant resource)? I suspect you used filler/primer or something of the sort to remove the layer lines, but I was wondering how you got such good textured colors. Especially on the cascade and dark green pots.
