Looking to purchase a pot for this tree at some point and can’t really decide on a pot type or color. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Do you want the pot to reflect seasonality of the tree in a particular time of year ?

For winter display you can go in a direction of complementing the white bark for a softer impression or contrasting the light bark for a more powerful impression:

If you want to display the tree in leaf I think softer is better in terms of color so that you don't compete with the vibrant foliage:

Overall for me, a very light blue or soft white rectangle would give lots of flexibility on displays

I love the red flowers* these get in the spring... maybe a red pot, or a white/cream pot with red elements? You'd have to pick the shade of red carefully, though, or it could appear garish.

*Bracts maybe? Not sure of the proper term. Example:

I hadn’t considered cream and I really like that. Simple and allows the color of the tree in any season to shine.
Thanks

Flowered bonsai have three colors. Flowers, leaves and bark. So a good color scheme would be to choose a pot color that fits within the three colors scheme. Having four colors is generally is too color busy which takes attention away from the tree.

Good hunting

I have a few pots that would be a match for this tree depending on the size of your tree. Light blue ovals would be a great match.

That is a pretty nice mikawa! I like the way yours is turning out. If interested in custom, I do that. I have a lot of glazes I make as well!

Cream colored pots are pretty traditional with Japanese maples. There are hundreds of examples online. Yours would work well in an oval or even round depending on the nebari

What do you want to spend is another important question
