I had a Meyer lemon cutting that rooted last year and had it growing over a small flat rock over the last year to spread its roots. A few weeks ago I decided to repot it and place it on a larger rock. I had a second cutting that that I also repotted with a small rock underneath. I wired the trees down and place some stones on top to keep it stable until the roots take hold. I’ll let this grow for a few years and see what happens!

It did get some flowers weeks after I repotted it, I then placed it under our lemon tree when all the bees were flying round pollenating. Too young to bear mature fruit, but it would be cool if it started to fruit.

I got a Meyer lemon a couple of years ago never thought of doing a root over rock.. interesting.. I'll keep an eye on this post I haven't had my trees long enough to know how thick or how much root it grows but considering they grow pretty vigorously at times I would think pretty good. Btw if you ever do a root over rock planting again use a rock with more interesting crevice's and annulations on the surface 😉. A flat rock doesn't have a lot for the roots to grab hold on and to really grip the rock and it looks more interesting most times.
