Well, to prepare the structure of the tree so it develops already with the good proportions defined.

it is impressive and especially since 20 years ago, the internet/magazine informations that we can easily find now weren't available. People who start "making" Bonsai nowadays can find very good information/lessons (free or PPv) and can avoid mistakes and save time.
