i just found this Banyan in my local nursery. as you can see it has a nice strong root climbing out of the grow bag
unfortunately, there is only one root like this but i think i can get a few more to grow over time
but i was wondering about the final design. i've seen a lot of bonsai perched on top of a rock but that doesn't look natural to me. i was thinking about creating a hillside scene with a rocky cliff the tree growing over the cliff. something like this sketch
i would need to find some kind of custom made pot no doubt but what do you think?
i've searched google looking for root on rock bonsai but never found anything on a sloping pot (except this a bit)
i found a really nice flat, plate like piece of granite this morning and thinking of hollowing in it out for a pot
