As I posted recently I have just potted up a bunch of 1yr old BC seedlings in preparation for making a forest next year. I would also like to get a few 2-3 year old saplings with larger diameters than the 1/2-3/4” size these are to serve as focal points. Unfortunately Zach Smith is out so I am looking for an alternate source. Anyone have any suggestions—BillsBayoo, John Geanangle, anyone???

Hi Cofga,
If all else fails you could try my plan for the forests I am thinking of doing.

Say you have 10 trees - keep some in small nursery pots for a few years, not allowing roots to escape as that would give girth. Eg- small pot equals stick in pot.
Try the next few in large (2-5 gallon) nursery pots, so you cn get a bit of girth.
Last few plant in ground for max growth, max girth opportunity.
AND in a few years or more you get different girth’s all from the same age trees.
If you got no ground, buy a couple of 10-15 gallon nursery pots/bags.

Other way is to buy a couple of nursery grown (2-4 years) trees for $50-100 and you get the result that way too.

Hope that helps,
Charles
