I have quite a few azaleas with a range of flower shapes and colours. This year, suddenly, there's something different.
This azalea came from a garden renovation.
The flowers are usually plain red
Today I found a few striped flowers on the same plant.
The plain and the striped flowers are both growing on shoots from the same trunk.
I know that some satsuki azaleas have different flowers on the same plant but this is the first time I've seen it on Indica azaleas.
I will mark those stems and try to grow some cuttings to see if the variation persists into new plants.
