Long time gardener new to this world

Oh and from what im seeing cherry blossom has alternating leaves where the bush cherry has opposite. This plants is not alternating…. Grrr

I have the ability to keep plants indoor
I’ve kept Australian Brush Cherry alive next to a south facing window with no supplemental lighting. Of course it will do more than survive if you can provide it with some full spectrum lighting. Just be careful that it doesn’t get below 50°F and you should be fine.

Well, i have ben trying to find out as much information about this tree as i can. Im starting to think it is a bush cherry that was labeled as a cherry blossom. Can anyone confirm this is or isn't a cherry blossom?
There is no such tree as a “cherry blossom”. This is a tropical species most likely Surinam Cherry (Eugenia uniflora). It is NOT a deciduous cherry tree. Eugenia is a common mass produced bonsai subject. It is not winter hardy. Eugenia are not all that easy to keep as bonsai

It might also be a Barbados Cherry (Malpighia) another tropical species with red fruit. Also not easy as bonsai

And a pet peeve —😆cherry trees are not “cherry blossom treees”. I see that a lot. Cherry trees are cherry trees. 😁

Welcome to the NutHouse fellow Hoosier! Yes check out the Indy Bonsai Club. Mark Fields is amazing and check out Scott Yelich from Eagle Creek Bonsai. They visit our seasonal shows at our Fort Wayne Bonsai club and the the workshops they hold are very helpful! If your interest is genuine you will not regret it.

🤣 I was gonna go down that road but, didn’t want the original poster to feel overwhelmed on their “maiden” post.
Yes i am aware that cherry trees are not blossom trees. I should not have trusted the tag but got excited when i saw cherry blossom i assumed it was ornamental cherry Sakura i believe is the right term here. Be easy my ignorance might be showing through. Specifically the Prunus serrulata.

Dont worry about overwhelming me. Lesson learned i guess i will get my Chinese elms and then the maples and work with those for a while.

Unfortunately i do not have a south facing windows only east and west but i have full spectrum lighting for other plants that i grow and also for when i start plants indoors for the garden.

BTW, Chinese elms are outside trees and should be okay overwintering outside in your hardiness zone. Might need some protection depending on the size/pot/site.
Means more room indoors fot the mystery cherry.
And a lot of JMs are easy from cuttings.
Go for it.
