I’m new to bonsai and last weekend my wife and I spent the weekend in Santa Rosa to celebrate her birthday. Our plan (actually my plan) was to check Lone Pine Gardens in Sebastopol. I know many Bay Area bonsai vets know of this place, but if you’re new to bonsai or haven’t been there, you have to check it out. The grounds are awesome and they have so much pre-bonsai material. Not only is the place awesome but Steve and his wife were sooo friendly and helpful! I could’ve spent a whole day there and will definitely be back. So if you’re into trees, succulents or cacti definitely check them out. Attached is picture of my haul from that day. All for about $180.

This is how it typically works in bonsai! But on a birthday weekend ... that can be dangerous! Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your (and her) haul.

Time flies and before you know it you've spent hours looking at plants. Your post is giving me the itch to visit LP again.

What varieties of Japanese quince did you get? The ones in the gallon pots look quite nice.

Haven’t been there in ages…I used to sometimes go when I was in the area to visit California Carnivores before they relocated, but back then I was in it for their succulents. Which they’re also awesome at, but one day I’m going to have to revisit with bonsai enthusiast eyes.

It's a Chojubai (white) Dwarf Quince.

Yes, come back for the trees and wine!

Thanks for sharing those images!… Nostalgic vibes … Even the benches have held up great all these years.
