Abies amabilis
Collected May 2024
Southern exposure. Sandy soil.
3000’
Bare branches with browning foliage; combined with fresh inner growth, back budding, and reduced needle size suggest repeated drought exposure. This year’s buds look healthy.
May. A few days post collection.
At time of collection buds were swollen and starting to open.
Needles are reduced in size. On most parts of the tree they are arranged vertically and around stem.
A fair amount of roots were obtained.

Getting through this heatwave just fine.
Tree has been kept in shade and well watered. Mist daily.
