Good morning everyone
I want to show you this little tree that I've collected some years ago in my garden.
What do you think?

Cool! I enjoy this species in the landscape and for fruit, but never really considered it for bonsai because of the growth habit and large leaves. How much manipulation did you do to the tree to get ramification? I'd love to see it in leaf, do the leaves reduce much?

Hi Michael
At the moment not much... in the first photo you can see the size of the leaves in summer...
For improving the ramification every year I remove all the buds in early spring and aIso pinch the new growths. In the second foto you can see the result of the buds removing :)

NICE.... that is a fabulous specimen.

I once tried to germinate 300 ficus carica seeds that I bought for USD 1.40 online...

Sooooooooo......

Nice Ficus Carica, I wish I had one.

🤣🤓

I used to have a few ficus carica bonsai. A lot of my friends now have fig trees from the cuttings. I gave one to friends who bought a farm a few years ago when they put up a green house, planted one in ground, and sold the last two that were being trained as bonsai. I sold everything that had larger leaves since my space is limited.

One year, I had drastically reduced leaf size that lasted all summer. I thought it was something about waking the tree up early to do root work and pruning, but I couldn't replicate the results. I never did anything like defoliation because the trees were still in development.
