Layering Japanese White Pine 'Ara Kawa'

Hello, i am getting ready to air-layer a japanese white pine 'ara kawa', and i am wondering what type of harmone to use? Powder or liquid, and what strength? Also, is there any "tricks" to use with this type of tree, when performing an air-layer?
