Just wanted to know if anyone has ever come across this. I purchased an English Oak in May, had really nice swollen buds on it. May ended, didn't leaf out. June and July passed, didn't leaf out. I thought it was DOA but the buds still looked swollen and not shriveled up. Today, Aug 2. I'm watering my trees and low and behold the SOB leafed out!!!! I've never heard of anything like that. Anyone else ran into a similar situation? Should I offer special winter protection other than bury and forget?

Thanks.

Mike

I've seen this quite a few times with bareroot trees at my work. Many times they'll sit there doing nothing for a year, sometimes two then they will leaf out.
Trees are weird sometimes!
