Larch Redesign

After the harsh winter three winters ago two major branches died. One was the parent of an approach graft. The graft lived the parent died. The first pic is from '13.

I think the redesign is better than the original. Sometimes art is in recognizing opportunities within a piece of material, or the changes nature imposes on the tree and taking advantage of those changes. Very nice.
The original was in the 3rd US National so maybe there is hope for the redesign.
 
I think it looks more "interesting" now, looking forward to seeing how it develops.

So, you got an approach graft to work on larch - have you ever tried a thread graft? I seem to remember you mentioning that at some point. I tried a couple of thread grafts (on the "bucket of larch") this spring to try to fill in a couple of bare spots. I would think thread grafts should work if approach grafts will...

I have two thread grafts on "Scar." Still waiting to see how they do.
