Lance's Kiyozuru....

Healthy looking tree there. What are you using for a backdrop?

The black one in the first photo is a sink cut-out from an area countertop installer and the other is white plastic fence...after these photo's I gave it a spray for some white buggies......
;)

Cool! Eager to see how it grows. Post an update sometime, it’s been a while.

Your blog post was rather timely, @Brian Van Fleet went out and gave it a "sprish, sprish" for the white buggies! Trimmed lightly for a couple years, it's been left alone last year and this...I'm thinking it might be a good idea to grow out some areas and strike some cuttings. Not much progress but the trunk is filling out a bit.

….you can see it's just a bit washed out due to the mild mite problem...still fairly healthy....I think...😏🤭🤭🤭

….post sprish, rat-ty ass Puma flops for scale....🤨

Hi Lance. I have several stock plants of Juniper that I keep for propagation purposes.

Rather than do cuttings I use the flexible runners to create twisty bases while still on the tree. Just apply wire and get in some interesting movement (they're so thin you can really go to town on them) and then air layer them off when they've bulked up a bit. You can then either grow them on in the ground or keep them in containers if real estate is scarce.

Juniper air layer readily so my stock plants can yield 3 or 4 trees every year. This gives one lots of opportunities for developing one's skills and stuff to sell on.

Good luck with your tree.
