Korean hornbeam wilt

Hi Bonsai people!
I have a lovely Korean hornbeam. General health is good. Repotted last year.
It’s new growth is pushing out and on quite a few branches, the new shoots open in little clusters, and they appear to be wilted and a little brown at the leaf edges. It’s not a dry browning, but a wet wilt and browning. Makes me think it’s root related or fungal. Any thoughts?
If it’s roof related, what do we think about a repot right now? Bare root to new soil?

Theyre pretty drought tolerant so maybe try keeping it drier? Might help if its root rot related

Was the root before or after the wire?
If I suspected a wilt, I would water with peroxide/water and hope it is fungal. Bacterial wilts are a different thing and just about always fatal. Don't think that is it though.

Ugh.. what is your substrate ? Watering routine ??? How often are you watering.

It’s in a mix of lava, riversand, and Akadama. I believe the Akadama has broken down and is perhaps retaining too much water. I water as needed- only when it starts to dry. I feel like perhaps it’s a fungal issue.

I think it needs a new soil mix. Thoughts on reporting it now? Removing 1-3/3 of its outer soil and reporting to a better draining mix..?

I think you’re correct. I suspect it’s not draining as well due to the Akadama braiing down.

Basically, the short and sweet of it , it is a mix of regular store grade peroxide 3% and an equal amount of water.
There is a ton of info here in past discussions in the archive.

I recently heard Dr. Elaine Ingham condemning the use of peroxide, as it kills all the good fungus.

As reliant as our trees are on fungus, it makes sense to not kill them with chemical fertilizer and cides, including that of the perox variety.

Did you know that Brassicas, broccoli, cauliflower, collards and such are the only plant family without a relationship with fungus?
Found that out recently.

If you believe in evolution, it seems the first plants root was not a root but a fungus.

I'm not saying you can't pour liquid devil into your pots and grow trees.....

I am saying that a simple Brix test would prove my trees are healthier than anyone's who pours the liquid devil.

Peroxide is produced by many fungi to kill pathogenic or competing fungal spores. It is a natural product that life produces though it can also be created easily in the lab.
Fungus are not plants but have their own classification.
I have plants that would not be alive today if I had not used peroxide. That is unless I used toxic fungicides, and it is debateable whether that would have worked. The peroxide did work.
The blanket statement that my plants are healthier than yours is unfounded.
People can condemn anything and condemnation is frequently ignorance.

I have been reading about the use of peroxide for a long time and although I have not personally done the experience yet, I know many cases of fellow hobbyists with very good results.

Penumbra, sorry for asking but the 1 to 1 of peroxide and water would not be excessive? I have read 2 or 3 tablespoons per liter.

I have actually used 3% peroxide straight out of the bottle to destroy root rot. I did it reluctantly, but it worked fine. Normally though I use 1 to 1 just like I do for a mouth wash and for gum irrigation.
I have heard of folks using as little as a teaspoon to a quart and that I think is pretty useless. I do use a milder solution of maybe an ounce or two per quart as a foliar spray, particularly for plants under a dome or in a grow tent. I have even used it on seedlings with no deleterious effect. It knocks down mildew right away.
