Hi,

Wanted to gather the opinion of folks around here about how to go around a purchase. I've never purchased trees online. I identified a couple of JBPs from Kensho Bonsai Studios that go for quite a substantial amount of money. I'd like these to be shipped during dormant season, to give them the best chance to make it and Marcio, the guy from Kensho Bonsai Studios agrees. The trees do have a 15% discount but that is only applicable if payment is done now, rather than when the trees are shipped.

What would you guys do in this situation, pay now to get the 15% discount or pay at shipment and lose the discount.

Would paying now eliminate the possibility of a chargeback on my card if the trees don't arrive for some reason since payment would have been done some 6 months before?


Having said all this, all the few reviews I've found about the seller have been good.

Marcio is a pro, and knows his stuff. I 100% trust him to do the right thing.

I normally get my trees from him at the bonsai trophy. But for you that would not make sense.

I have JUST paid for a tree that will be shipped after peak summer (but not from Marcio). So .. If you like the tree, trust the seller, I would not think twice, just buy it and get it when weather is suitable for shipping.
I have no idea what chargeback is. If it is a form of pulling back your payment.. I personally do not like this. I prefer to work with the seller and find a solution if something goes wrong. Persons like Marcio are not in business to rip people off.

Chargebacks are initiated by buyers through their bank only after a resolution between buyer and seller could not be found. The situation is then investigated by the bank and chargeback is only done after verification of the claims made by the customer. It is in no way a fraudulent procedure although like most things, can be used that way. In reality it's a form of consumer protection. I don't intend to use it obviously it's just that since i've never bought online, and never from Marcio, having the option makes me feel more confident about making the purchase.

I must say, I have had pretty much only good experiences online. Both from private as from commercial sellers.
And as said, Marcio has always been reliable to me. I do not know their online processes, but I have never heard any negatives re. his store.
