This is really nice! If you ever get your hands on The Art of Bonsai Design by Colin Lewis (highly recommend), he has an excellent tree that he achieved a very similar effect on.
Over time, the child tree will grow and be oriented more toward/under the mother, but I will keep the tree in the current position with foliage not growing upward/into the mother tree. Keeping it in open air and light.
Will likely soon branch select prune to create negative space in the mother tree and add movement to the directional branch.
The composition has come to life over the past few months. Will maintain BIOGOLD and regimen.
I like the mother protecting the child concept.
I would allow the right side of the child tree to grow out horizontally to follow the windswept idea.
I will you be growing the circled portion as your new Apex?

I like the idea of the encircled structural branch being the new apex. That would offer good taper and for the scale. I might wait and see if the lowest and second lowest branches contribute to enough trunk thickening that the taper is maintained.
The child tree is planned just as you mentioned The singular primary branch is developing nicely (becoming very “woody”). Will do incremental wiring as needed. It seems very delicate that I want to wait until branches and trunk portions become more lignified to hang wire.
Will see how it develops over Spring ‘25. Long term, there will be an elongated pot and planting position will be at far left. Overall, my goal is to present both years of wind and current active wind such that when one approaches to view it they will hold onto their hat.
