I got some of my seeds from these guys too... only source of JBP I could find locally (Oz) on the net. My research shows that “thunderhead” are a bit coarser growing than standard JBP, which might make them problematic as shohin... I guess we’ll both see huh? Best of luck to you... ????

"Thunder head" ,very cold tolerant listed as zone 5 to 10
[ As are Mikawa ]
Should be interesting to see how the seeds go.

On our side, we are wondering if the seeds that do well
are variations in genetics, and just Tropical pines.
The seeds that would die in zones 10 to 7 in Japan.
Good Day
Anthony

Not such a good start the 20 seeds sown in a tray 00000 germinated not sure why yet, but threw six floaters into a pot and have four out and going well EFC6DD76-4A99-4407-BDE3-51F411A1F459.jpeg

Don't feel bad, of the seeds I got from this source I had pretty much the same rate of success as you - nil! I also know another person (not in this comp) who had the same experience so I'm kinda leaning towards the seeds being less than optimum rather than anything to do with techniques used to germinate. I used the same techniques on seeds from other sources and thankfully got a way better success rate. Good luck with your remaining 4!

Thanks Ryceman, I hoped it wasn’t my doing as I had tried several different propagation mixes but yes anyway I still have the four to play with Cheers Peter
