JBP Seedlings, is this normal?

These 17 month old seedlings look like they are having a second flush of growth this summer, is that normal for JBP seedlings?View attachment 605859View attachment 605860
Yes it is, under the right care and climate they can push a third and sometimes a fourth flush if enough nutrients, water and sunlight is available. One needs to understand that internode length can be an issue development. Steadier growth can be more desirable.

I've found that JBP is very fun to work with since they're pretty predictable in how they react to certain things. For example, in late May I cut a few candles, and now they each have 3-4 shoots growing out for the rest of summer. Then in fall I'll prune those down to 2 shoots per junction. JBP also seem to react very well to wiring, root work, etc. Mine have been really fun to work on, even when young.
