Japanese white pine seedlings

hello, i'll show the evolution of my JWP seedlings. I also made JBP seedlings (which grow very well) but i prefer to show the JWP seedlings evolution, because it is more "mythical" (like the US bristlecone pines) for me.

In february in water for 2 days (3 seeds out of 16 remain on the surface) ->


stratification in wet vermiculite for 1 month (in the fridge) ->



March 19, I sowed them in a very draining mixture (especially kiryu) in a terracotta pot (best pot for cultivation) ->



May 23 , 1 seed starts to emerge (after 2 long months of waiting) ->


June 3 ->


July 16 : finally, i can say that 6 seeds are alive (out of 16) ->


They are in a opened greenhouse to control watering. I water them only when the soil surface is really dry (i don't want them to die because of root rot). I watered 1 time with Fosetyl-Aluminium (Aliette) because i read that ABE family use previcur to avoid damping off. (Previcur can't be found anymore in my place but it contains Fosetyl-al too).

I'll show the evolution of those seeds, hoping they won't die ^^

I have now 8 young seedlings ( = 50% succes)

No... I'm more focused on the size and shape of the needles in the future : the straighter and shorter the needles, the better I dunno how they will be.

From what I've heard, this iis precisely the reason why knowing seed origin can be important.

i would prefer to get seeds from the famous Azuma mountains for sure.. But anyway i'm not sure that all the seeds from Azuma (or other great places) always and definitely produce trees with good needles... I'll see with my 8 seedlings if there are significant differences in terms of needle length.

And to grow seedlings will give me more experience and knowledge about the culture of the famous JWP Do they like it in my Normandy climate ? (etc)

I have 9 seedlings now
There is a rootlet coming out of the drainage hole.
