Have a small Japanese maple had for maybe a month and I repotted it when it first arrived. There were 2 that are technically the same although the leaves look a bit different on each. One looks healthy and other ones leafs starting to wilt. Watering when soil starts to dry so don’t think it’s due to over or under watering. I do recall one of root systems looked better than other amd wondering if might have cut off too much roots.

Wondering if I should reduce branching to reduce stress on tree or just wait it out? I do see some other buds swelling to open as well.

These outside? If so, could be frost damage. Also could be a root problem and a watering issue. Don't start "doing stuff" to them, particularly cutting things off of them. Let them be. Put them in a place with morning sun and afternoon shade, make sure they're getting adequate water.

Put it in a spot with minimal wind and lots of morning sun. I actually go full sun at this time of year as it's not quite intense/hot yet.
