Itty Bitty Accents

I planted these little guys two months ago into some Jim Barrett Mini Pots in fine akadama. So far they have survived, even thrived on my window sill on a dinner plate acting as a humidity tray. I mist them daily and make sure they never dry out. They are Rhodohypoxis Baurii, and miniature sedum (very miniature). Enjoy!

NICE ! I like this stuff. Have you tried bloodgrass or Dwarf astilbe?
I hope to have a few of these mini's for Spring accents at an upcoming show.

beautiful little plants, thanks for sharing! i love the miniature pots as well!

actually could someone please briefly explain the function of an accent plant in an exhibit for me? i gather they're supposed to be small and not take attention from the tree itself, but i don't understand what they contribute, apart from maybe providing contrast. thanks

Thanks! No, I haven't tried either of those species yet. My greatest success is with the rhodohypoxis, its so darn easy to grow and it pops back up every year.

Jake, accent plants are there not only to accompany the tree, but to tell a season, place, or add something to the display "story" that is missing from the tree alone. There are lots of posts by Smoke discussing display that are very helpful in understanding the purpose of display elements.
