Nice little tree. Do you already own it, or are you thinking of purchasing it? I'd happily take it (price dependent, of course).
Are you actually allergic to simple contact with these? I react to procumbens but it's more from the constant little jabs from the sharp needles. I don't have any problem with shimpaku.
I like it, and I'll like it even more when it fills in!
very attractive litle tree. I would at least shorten that vertical deadwood. It should be no more than a stub.
Wise. Wait until the design is finished before you decide how much to leave.I thought about doing that Jim...but once gone I can't get it back. If the foliage is grown out...I can have the tip of that jin poke out from it. So I will hold off. If it doesn't pan out..then stub it will become.

But, I do see many more junipers in my collection...either shimpaku or Kishu...if I can get this one through winter and into the following season
