I have a ficus bonsai and I always have to be careful watering it since it doesn’t have holes at the bottom of the pot. My kid overwatered it one day and I waited a while for it to dry out and now I’ve been keeping it consistently but ever since they watered it too much it’s been growing mold on the top is that OK? Should I repot it?

First re-pot it now. Pull the moss off and clean the roots reasonably well. Put in a pot with drainage and use a good bonsai mix like Bonsai Jack. It is hard to be certain from your picts, but it looks as though there may be a soft spot on your ficus with fungus on it. I would rinse the roots in a peroxide / water mix. Personally I would use it 50/50.
I can almost guarantee a lingering death unless you put it in a pot and soil with drainage.

Oh my ! I have some pumice, pine chips and lava rock coming in the mail. I’ll have to wait a couple days till they get here. Here is another picture… I did just give it a little water about 30 minutes ago .. (I put some moss on the top a while back but it couldn’t stay alive because I didn’t want to drown the tree.bad idea)

Oh wow, that is quite an infestation. Of something. I don’t think it’s mold, I would guess root aphids.

So do you think I should do as she suggested and just repot it and clean it off? Or is there another way to kill them?

It could be insects but I'm not seeing it. Either way, I would give the treatment I suggested. I have used it for fungus and for mealy bug on tropicals with excellent results.

So I got all the ingredients for the bonsai soil and I re-potted it but I must admit it looks pretty bad once I pulled it out the roots were full of mold. Do you think it’ll survive?

It's a ficus. Yes, it will survive.
If you have any healthy roots at all, it's practically guaranteed. If not, but you have healthy top growth, just plant it deeper and keep it humid, and you're at least to 50% survival rate.
Ficus root crazy easy.

Remember that, with the bonsai type soil and a draining pot, you'll probably find you need to water more frequently, but have less health issues.
