Well shit, idk how I managed to post this without the body of text. Anyways, I posted the development on my pre-bonsai on another forum and someone suggested starting Shari. I recall reading a post about Kathy Shaner recommending a small shari to start and to widen it over time to create a more realistic appearance. So the question is: Should I wait for this tree to become significantly more mature before bothering with Shari? And if not, does anyone have suggestions on where initial very small Shari could be started to develop a more mature appearance in the future?
I have it in my mind that some very small Shari in well placed spots might even out the trunk a bit, but I can also wait a few more years and see what happens and try then. I’ve never really gotten the tree to grow as vigorously as I would like, but it is also very hardy.
