I saw a neighbor tearing up some plants in his front yard (11/5). I dropped off lunch at home and went to chat. He said he was just going to throw them out and I could have some if I wanted. I explained what I do and he seemed genuinely interested and thought it was pretty cool
He had oleander and roses and this big Indian hawthorn. The hawthorn was the obvious choice
I believe this is a “ballerina” variant. It’s been planted since 2015ish. These might be 3-5yrs old when sold, and that a wild guess. So this bush is around 8-11yrs old maybe
I originally had it in the original muck soil, but decided on putting it in potting soil (my mulberry responded well when swapped from muck to potting soil) (last photo of root ball was a from soil change)
Anyway, the plan is a going to be a leaning style as it’s side heavy and the branches mostly go to one side
