I'm Torn

I think location has a lot to play into things. I'm lake front. When my night temps are cold. It takes awhile to warm back up. Our high of the day typically hits around 3 or 4 o'clock. My nighttime temps last most of the day...until spring really is in full spring. Highs mean nothing to me at this time of calendar year.

lol.

Agreed though.

YES the roots are more frost sensitive than trees in the ground. But if you grow zone-appropriate species, normal season-appropriate spring frosts are not a huge issue. I have literraly had maples hanging over from frost and ice in the first week of april, first 2 sets of leaves extended (I know, I should have pinched!). And no damage except for the odd ripped leaf.
That is a good point you brought out. Having a cold greenhouse. The majority of my trees are not hardy to my zone.

I brought mine out Monday. This weekend, we have some cold nights: 26f tonight, 30f tomorrow, 23f Sunday... Buds are swelling, but not open. However, I did a lot of fall repotting. I'll probably move those trees under my bulkhead / storm doors overnight.
