Wow, that IS a nice tree!
First thought now for styling is take out that lowest thick branch, tilt it to direction of the remaining trunk, and would make good windswept style, if on the the tall side.

It truly is, I am happy I snatched it before they dumped it.

Which one of the trunks do you mean? I would have to edit the Picture first to see what it would look like, never really delt with Firs before in such a scale

I marked over the one I would remove.
Then the tree could be leaned over to the right on the next repot, and wired into a windswept style.

Not a bad Idea, worth to consider that!
I have no Rush to wire it this Spring, I can still do so later after the new Growth has finished :)
Till then I shall collect more Ideas

I will make better Pictures tomorrow and edit them In photoshop to see what is possible with this tree, I dont think I will go cascade with it.

Update on the Tree,

I know it doesnt look nearly as good as it could, but given that I never done this, I like what it became so far
And yes I know the Raffia and Wire job is sloppy and can be refinded.

Sadly the left lower branch has a tear in is, didnt realize at first, so I fixed it with a wire loop and forced it back while somewhat remaining the bend I gave it.
For now I can only hope that the big branch doesnt die off, but it should heal back together pretty nicely.

As for the Foliage, not much of it was salvagable, it had a lot of good growth and backbudding thanks to the fertilizer and good year we had last year.
So there is hope to reuild the backside with the new shoots you curently canot see.

I would take all the raffia and wire off and redo.
Not happening. I am not a master, so it wont get better, plus, can you see all the guidewires there is on? They are there for a reason. I will not twist and turn it back just because somebody doesnt like the amateur job done on it lmao. It is what it is. And it will remain as such. Since you got no idea whats actualy going on under that raffia, which could cause the tree to be harmed if takwn off to early. You will see next autum IF even, to see the underneath.

Points for sticking to his guns.

I'll back OP by saying we all know how much damage can result from a piss poor amateur wire job. No need to risk exacerbating it by being a perfectionist amateur.
Even a mediocre tree is still an enjoyable tree. Especially when you know it's story, and you are that story.

I'm saying take off and redo later on then.

There is wire girdling branches and it's possible you'll see die back on them. I dont care if it looks perfect, I just would hate to see branches die off.

You do you. That's what it's all about.

Ye no. I am an amateur but not stupid.
I took extra care not to put the wire on to tight to kil it, im a landscapegardener after all.... For the few needles that are pinched ther. Have you ever tried to get a wire there when the wire is thiccer than the actual needles thare are very dense? My tree, my shitty amateur job, i love it regardless and know the srory, as shady said.

Here is a little update on the Tree.
Yes I am aware it doesnt look great, funny enough for all of you that thought the wire did a hell lot of damage?
The Wire itselfe came off like Cake and none of the branches died from Wireing. The Wind was blowing the Tree over on multiple ocasions, even with Heavy stones waying it down, Just couldnt help it. Some of the Branches snapped and after I tried to get them to heal together, they died off. The Damage from the few orcans was simply to much.
Only issue is tho, we had a very very hot february and some of the branches just didnt make it past that time. Luckily the majority of the Main branches still live.

So the Tree went from a somewhat upright Position to a leaning to the Side one. I have no clue just yet if the other Branches will make it or not, as said the Orcan damaged that poor Tree quite a bit...
I wired some of the Branches together, what might look to you weird as hell, is a way for us here to get a broken Twig to heal back on the other Part. I freshened up the edges and "glued" it back together with wire. Usualy it does heal pretty nicely, but it will forever be a weak branch. The Big one suffered a bit as well, but it seems to be doing great at the moment. There is some more new growth on the old thicc main Stem, I will let it stay and use it later to fill in the gaps.

As you can see, despite it being broken and whatsoever, it got pretty good growth this year!.
As for the Position? I have yet to wait and see what the Branches do. Maybe this works out, maybe it doesnt.

The Picture looks funny because the white pot and its contents look like an extension of that Tree, didnt realize till now!
